2019 South Africa – Northern Hemisphere

We had five amazing teams volunteering in South Africa from the northern hemisphere in 2019 working on various conservation and construction projects.

A special thank you to Damaris, Jake, Cassandra, Frankie, Andrew, and Zine who have been a fantastic team to lead our projects in the 2019 season.

Here are some of the highlights.

Khula Village

  • Constructed an additional two out of five planned homes in the village.
  • The houses will provide two families a safe and more sanitary homes to live in.
  • They will also have incinerators and composting included.
  • Provided education to the village children included english, math and social sciences.

Emdonini Cheetah Project

  • Removed invasive plants from the cheetah enclourses.
  • Cleaned caracal waters.
  • Maintenance of the cheetah enclosures.
  • Educating our volunteers on the cat and other conservation issues.

Crocodile Center

  • Built four new enclosures to house the crocodiles at the center including plumbing and fencing.
  • Maintenance of enclosures built from past volunteers.
  • We received a special letter of thanks to all our volunteers from Nompumelelo Ngcobo, the officer in charge on the crocodile center.
