2018-2019 Fiji Islands – Southern Hemisphere

We had four amazing teams volunteering in Fiji Islands from the northern hemisphere in 2019 working on various conservation and construction projects.

A special thank you to Tom, Jacqi and Benji who have been a fantastic team to lead our volunteers in the 2018 – 2019 season.

Here are some of the highlights.

Votualailai Village – Tagaqe District School

  • Worked on several construction projects on the school including building the east wing, nursery, and classrooms.
  • Maintenance of existing classrooms.
  • Volunteers did an amazing job bringing on some art and colour into the classrooms especially with a mural at the front entrance.
  • In terms of education, apart from our usual involvement and english and maths, we also introduced education initiatives around recycling and its impact on the environment as well as the importance of nutrition and a balanced diet on health.
  • We also worked on several art and craft projects and introduced some of our favourite songs taught in Australian schools such as ‘Home Among the Gumtrees’.

You can read about our efforts in more detail here.
